When my guy joined the military it was one of the hardest things I had ever had to deal with, and I wish that someone had told be about what I was getting myself into when he left. So, to help those who are going to be in the same situation that I am in I decided to start this blog telling people about what it's like to be in this type of relationship. Anonymous asked: so my boyfriend will be going into the army when he's 18, which is only a few weeks away, and he's decided on the National Guard. i was just wondering what exactly he'll be doing since he won't tell me and i don't wanna bug him about it. and how this one is different from the other branches.
The National Guard is when you are probably going to be in his home state where after he has gone to basic he will go to drill one weekend out of the month as well as a two week training some time during the summer. He will be considered a part time soldier which means he will be able to go to school, but he still has the chance to be deployed. If he was in the Army he would most likely be deployed as soon as he finished his training.
Overall the National Guard is the relaxed version of the Army.
As far as what he is doing it depends on whagt type of MOS he has. Depending on his score when he took the ASVAB he was assigned a job in the military and that is what he will be going to his further training for.
